Responsibilities
- Supervise inmate activities and enforce institutional regulations to maintain facility security
- Conduct regular patrols and headcounts to prevent contraband and safety violations
- Respond to emergencies and disturbances using de-escalation techniques and proper restraint procedures
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate inmate records
- Escort inmates within the facility and to/from court appearances
- Monitor visitor interactions and mail/packages for security compliance
- Participate in emergency response drills and specialized training programs
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED
- Valid New York State driver's license with clean record
- U.S. citizenship and ability to pass rigorous background investigation
- Successful completion of physical fitness assessment and medical examination
- Must pass psychological evaluation and drug screening
- Ability to work rotating weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime
- Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
- No felony convictions and minimum 3 years of employment history verification
