Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via phone, radio, and digital systems
- Dispatch appropriate police/fire/EMS units using CAD software and radio protocols
- Maintain accurate incident logs and update real-time status in RMS databases
- Provide critical information to field personnel and coordinate multi-agency responses
- Operate specialized communication equipment during crisis situations
- Assist in training new dispatchers and maintaining departmental protocols
- Perform quality assurance checks on recorded communications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Ability to pass comprehensive background investigation and polygraph examination
- Valid Indiana driver's license with clean driving record
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with high accuracy
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Proficient in computer systems with ability to learn complex software quickly
- Clear speaking voice and exceptional listening skills
- No felony convictions or serious misdemeanor offenses
