Responsibilities
- Monitor and supervise inmate populations ensuring facility security and compliance with regulations
- Conduct regular patrols, headcounts, and facility inspections to prevent contraband and safety hazards
- Enforce institutional rules and respond to emergencies including medical incidents and security breaches
- Document incidents, maintain accurate logs, and prepare detailed reports for legal proceedings
- Transport inmates between facilities and court appearances while maintaining custody protocols
- Train in defensive tactics, emergency response, and crisis intervention procedures
- Collaborate with law enforcement and healthcare professionals during critical incidents
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; college degree preferred
- Minimum 21 years of age with valid Tennessee driver's license
- Pass comprehensive background check, polygraph examination, and drug screening
- Successfully complete physical fitness assessment and correctional officer training academy
- No felony convictions or misdemeanor domestic violence charges
- Ability to work rotating weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs
- Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under high-pressure situations
- CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
