Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency (911) and non-emergency calls for service with speed and accuracy.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incident locations utilizing the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Monitor and maintain two-way radio communications with field personnel and support units.
- Enter and maintain accurate, up-to-date incident reports and records.
- Provide essential information and directions to the public during emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Assist in the training and orientation of new dispatch personnel during the trainee phase.
- Perform data entry and administrative tasks to ensure operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Must possess a valid, unrestricted Nevada Driver’s License.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and concisely over the radio.
- Ability to type at least 35-40 words per minute accurately.
- Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Background check and drug screening will be required as a condition of employment.
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and focused during high-stress situations.
