Responsibilities
- Monitor and supervise inmate activities within housing units and common areas to ensure safety and order.
- Enforce facility rules, regulations, and laws to maintain a secure environment.
- Conduct visual and physical searches of inmates, cells, and property for contraband.
- Document inmate behavior, incidents, and observations accurately in daily logs and reports.
- Respond immediately to emergencies, disturbances, or medical situations within the facility.
- Escort inmates to and from courtrooms, medical facilities, and work programs.
- Participate in training exercises to stay updated on safety protocols and legal standards.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age and a U.S. Citizen.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid Kansas Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- No felony convictions or serious misdemeanors on record.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug screen, and medical examination.
- Must be physically fit and capable of standing or walking for extended periods.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
