Responsibilities
- Receive, open, and distribute incoming mail and legal documents to appropriate court departments and judges.
- Answer inquiries from the public, attorneys, and court personnel regarding case status, filing procedures, and court hours.
- Prepare and file court documents, including complaints, answers, and judgments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with procedural rules.
- Operate office equipment, including copiers, scanners, and computer systems, to maintain efficient court operations.
- Assist in the preparation of court calendars and docket management for judges and clerks.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive legal and personal information.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate’s degree or paralegal certification is a plus.
- Previous experience in a legal environment, government office, or customer service role is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and court management software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Must pass a background check and adhere to the Code of Judicial Ethics and conduct standards.
