Responsibilities
- Receive, review, and file legal documents, including deeds, complaints, and judgments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local laws.
- Assist court staff and the general public with document retrieval, appointment scheduling, and procedural inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
- Maintain and update court databases and electronic filing systems with high attention to detail to ensure data integrity.
- Prepare and process correspondence, subpoenas, and official notices in accordance with court protocols.
- Operate standard office equipment, including printers, scanners, and copiers, and troubleshoot minor technical issues.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of sensitive legal and personal information at all times.
- Collaborate with the judiciary and legal professionals to facilitate the smooth operation of court proceedings.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or Business Administration is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clerical, administrative, or legal support role is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with case management software.
- Strong typing skills (minimum 40 WPM) and excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Candidate must pass a background check and fingerprinting as required by New Jersey state regulations.
