As a CPS Specialist, you will be on the front lines of protecting children and strengthening families. We provide extensive training and support to help you succeed in this challenging yet rewarding role.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive investigations of alleged child abuse and neglect reports received during the weekend shift.
- Interview children, parents, and witnesses to gather critical information and assess safety risks.
- Develop and implement appropriate safety plans to protect children in their homes.
- Coordinate with law enforcement agencies, medical personnel, and other community resources to ensure a coordinated response.
- Document all findings, case notes, and actions taken in the state case management system (CWS/CMS) accurately and timely.
- Testify in court proceedings regarding child welfare cases and provide expert testimony when necessary.
- Monitor the progress of case plans and make recommendations for further action based on case updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelorās degree in Social Work (BSW), Psychology, Criminal Justice, or a related field is preferred; a High School Diploma or GED with relevant experience may be considered.
- Valid Texas Class C Driverās License is required; ability to travel to various locations within the region.
- Ability to work rotating weekend shifts, holidays, and occasional overtime as needed.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Spanish bilingual skills are highly desirable for this location.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn state-specific case management software.
- Physical ability to navigate residential environments, including stairs and uneven terrain, and lift objects up to 50 lbs.
