Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze security events across federal networks to detect and respond to potential cyber threats in real-time.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify system weaknesses and mitigate risks.
- Manage and configure firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and other security appliances to protect infrastructure.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal standards such as FISMA, NIST, and DCID 6/3.
- Investigate security breaches, perform digital forensics, and recommend remediation strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement security patches, updates, and access controls.
- Prepare and present detailed technical security reports to federal stakeholders and leadership.
Qualifications
- Certification: Active Secret Security Clearance (or ability to obtain one) is required.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related technical field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, network engineering, or information assurance.
- Technical Skills: Certification preferred: CISSP, Security+, CEH, or GSEC.
- Knowledge: Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing/switching, and operating systems (Windows/Linux).
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and briefings.
- Adaptability: Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance if applicable.
