Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain advanced security protocols for VA's network infrastructure
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
- Monitor security alerts using SIEM tools and respond to incidents within 15-minute SLA
- Develop incident response plans and coordinate with federal partners
- Ensure compliance with NIST SP 800-53 and FedRAMP standards
- Train staff on cybersecurity best practices and phishing awareness
- Collaborate with IT leadership on security strategy implementation
Qualifications
- Active Secret security clearance (required)
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field
- 3+ years experience in network security or incident response
- CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification
- Proficiency with Splunk, Wireshark, and vulnerability scanners
- Experience with Windows/Linux system administration
- Knowledge of federal IT security frameworks (FISMA, NIST)
- Ability to obtain VA-specific security clearances
