Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive emergency response plans for natural disasters and public health emergencies
- Coordinate multi-agency disaster drills and tabletop exercises with FEMA, NC Emergency Management, and local partners
- Manage public alert systems and crisis communication protocols during emergencies
- Analyze risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for vulnerable communities
- Train city staff and community leaders on emergency response protocols
- Secure and administer federal grant funding for emergency preparedness projects
- Prepare post-incident reports and recommend policy improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in government emergency management or public safety
- FEMA Professional Development Series (PDS) certification required
- Valid North Carolina driver's license
- Experience with GIS mapping and emergency management software
- Demonstrated crisis communication skills
- Ability to work 24/7 during emergencies and flexible schedules
- US citizenship and ability to obtain federal security clearance
