Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive emergency response plans for hurricanes, floods, and public health emergencies
- Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies during disaster response and recovery operations
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses for critical infrastructure
- Train city staff and community leaders in emergency protocols and resource management
- Manage public information campaigns during crisis situations
- Analyze post-event data to improve future response strategies
- Oversee grant funding applications and compliance for disaster preparedness programs
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in disaster response or emergency management
- FEMA Professional Development Series (PDS) certification required
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and emergency management software
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multi-agency operations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Valid Louisiana driver's license and ability to work irregular hours during emergencies
