Role Overview:
In this entry-level role, you will serve as the first point of contact for visitors and customers, manage incoming communications, and assist senior staff with various administrative tasks. This is an excellent foundation for a future in federal service.
Responsibilities
- Perform general clerical duties including filing, photocopying, and data entry with high accuracy.
- Answer and screen incoming telephone calls, directing them to the appropriate personnel.
- Receive and direct visitors to the correct department or meeting room.
- Sort and distribute mail and packages in a timely manner.
- Assist in preparing correspondence, reports, and presentations using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Update and maintain electronic and manual filing systems to ensure records are organized and accessible.
- Support the procurement process by preparing purchase orders and tracking requisitions.
Qualifications
- Eligibility: Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident eligible for U.S. citizenship.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is required. Bachelor’s degree preferred but not mandatory for this entry-level track.
- Skills: Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) is required; typing skills are a plus.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with the public and federal employees.
- Background Check: Must successfully complete a background investigation, including a fingerprint check and credit check where applicable.
- Age: Must be at least 16 years of age.
