Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to citizens visiting the department or calling the main line.
- Assist in the intake and processing of applications for various city programs and benefits.
- Maintain accurate and confidential digital and physical records and filing systems.
- Perform data entry tasks to update citizen information in government databases.
- Answer and route telephone inquiries while providing accurate information regarding available services.
- Support senior staff with administrative tasks, including preparing reports and correspondence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth departmental operations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required; Associate's degree preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a focus on public interaction.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive government data.
- Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- No prior government or professional work experience is necessary; on-the-job training is provided.
- Valid driver's license may be required depending on specific assignment.
