In this role, you will be the first point of contact for basic pension inquiries and will assist in the data management lifecycle for state retirement plans. This is an ideal role for recent graduates or career changers seeking to enter the public sector.
Responsibilities
- Process and verify new pension enrollment applications and contribution data for state employees.
- Assist in the calculation of monthly pension benefits and cost-of-living adjustments.
- Respond to routine inquiries from retirees and active members via phone, email, and in-person.
- Perform data entry and quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with state regulations.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in the state retirement database.
- Collaborate with the HR team to resolve discrepancies in payroll and benefit records.
- Prepare basic reports and summaries for senior management regarding pension fund status.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Public Administration preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect errors in financial data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest level of confidentiality.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass a background check and drug screening.
