Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce federal/state/local environmental regulations (EPA, DEQ) for city facilities
- Conduct compliance audits and inspections of wastewater treatment plants, stormwater systems, and industrial sites
- Develop and maintain environmental compliance documentation and reporting systems
- Coordinate with public works, parks, and development departments on environmental best practices
- Lead spill response protocols and hazardous materials management programs
- Analyze environmental data to identify trends and recommend corrective actions
- Train staff on environmental regulations and sustainable practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 3 years experience in environmental compliance or regulatory affairs
- Knowledge of Virginia DEQ and federal EPA regulations
- Certified Environmental Compliance Manager (CECM) preferred
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills
- Valid Virginia driver's license
- Experience with GIS mapping software
