Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, swimming pools, and public accommodations
- Investigate public health complaints related to environmental hazards
- Enforce state health and safety regulations through compliance education and enforcement actions
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate case documentation
- Provide public education on environmental health risks and prevention
- Collaborate with local agencies and community organizations on health initiatives
- Participate in emergency response for environmental health incidents
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- Valid California Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) certification
- Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental health or public health
- Knowledge of California Health & Safety Code and Title 22 regulations
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
- Clean driving record and valid California driver's license
- Proficiency in inspection software and data management systems
