Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of food establishments, swimming pools, and public facilities to enforce health codes
- Investigate environmental health complaints and provide expert guidance to the public
- Develop educational materials for businesses and community members on health regulations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement public health initiatives
- Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate compliance records
- Represent the department at community meetings and public hearings
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of environmental health or regulatory compliance experience
- Strong knowledge of California Health and Safety Codes
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Valid California driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
