The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality seeks a motivated Environmental Policy Analyst to develop data-driven solutions that protect air quality, water resources, and public health. This role offers the opportunity to influence statewide environmental regulations while working alongside interdisciplinary teams.
What You'll Do: Conduct complex policy research, draft regulatory proposals, collaborate with community stakeholders, and analyze environmental impact assessments. You'll help implement Oregon's Climate Action Plan while ensuring compliance with federal environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Research and analyze environmental policy trends and regulatory frameworks
- Develop evidence-based policy recommendations for air/water quality initiatives
- Prepare regulatory impact statements and compliance guidance documents
- Coordinate with local governments, tribal nations, and community organizations
- Monitor legislative developments and testify at public hearings
- Manage environmental data using GIS and statistical analysis tools
- Prepare annual progress reports for agency leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Public Policy, or related field
- 3+ years of environmental policy or regulatory experience
- Advanced knowledge of Oregon environmental regulations (ORS 468)
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, R, or Python)
- Experience with stakeholder engagement and public comment processes
- Strong written communication skills for policy documentation
- Valid Oregon driver's license
