Join the Environmental Protection Agency's Pacific Northwest Region in Seattle as an Environmental Protection Specialist. This critical role involves developing and implementing environmental protection strategies for the Pacific Northwest, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, and leading community outreach initiatives. You'll work directly with state agencies, tribal governments, and industry stakeholders to address environmental challenges and protect natural resources.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enforce federal environmental regulations in compliance with the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act
- Conduct environmental impact assessments for proposed infrastructure projects
- Lead community engagement programs on environmental conservation initiatives
- Analyze environmental data using GIS and statistical modeling tools
- Coordinate with state agencies to develop regional pollution control strategies
- Prepare technical reports and policy recommendations for senior leadership
- Mentor junior staff on environmental compliance procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental policy or regulatory compliance
- Strong knowledge of federal environmental regulations (EPA, NEPA)
- Advanced proficiency in GIS software and environmental data analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain federal security clearance
- Experience working with tribal governments and diverse communities
