Responsibilities
- Monitor industrial compliance with state environmental regulations and conduct on-site inspections
- Develop and implement pollution prevention strategies for Detroit-based manufacturing facilities
- Analyze environmental data and prepare detailed compliance reports for regulatory agencies
- Lead community outreach initiatives to promote environmental awareness in underserved neighborhoods
- Coordinate with local government officials on environmental policy implementation
- Train facility personnel on proper hazardous waste management protocols
- Prepare grant proposals to secure funding for environmental improvement projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental compliance or regulatory work
- Valid Michigan driver's license with clean driving record
- Strong knowledge of EPA and MDEQ regulations (RCRA, CWA, CAA)
- Proficiency in GIS software and environmental data analysis tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) preferred
