Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections and water quality monitoring in Jacksonville waterways
- Analyze environmental data using GIS mapping and statistical software
- Prepare and submit compliance reports for NPDES permits
- Collaborate with local government agencies on watershed management plans
- Develop pollution prevention strategies for industrial facilities
- Train junior staff on environmental sampling protocols
- Represent the department at public hearings and community meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in environmental compliance or water quality
- Valid Florida driver's license with clean record
- Proficiency in ArcGIS and environmental data analysis tools
- Knowledge of Florida water quality standards and regulations
- Ability to obtain DEP certifications within 6 months of hire
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform field work in various weather conditions
