Responsibilities
- Process and adjudicate VA disability compensation claims with 99% accuracy
- Conduct interviews with veterans and family members to gather supporting documentation
- Interpret complex federal regulations (38 CFR) and medical evidence
- Collaborate with medical professionals to establish service-connection ratings
- Maintain detailed case files in VA's electronic claims system (VBMS)
- Respond to written inquiries from veterans and congressional offices
- Participate in quarterly quality assurance reviews
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Healthcare, or related field
- Minimum 2 years experience in federal benefits processing
- VA claims certification (VBA or VHA) preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and VA electronic systems
- Ability to handle sensitive veteran data with HIPAA compliance
- Excellent written communication skills for decision writing
- Valid U.S. government security clearance
- Knowledge of military service-connected conditions
