Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce institutional rules to ensure facility security
- Conduct regular perimeter inspections and surveillance rounds using advanced security systems
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and medical incidents with crisis intervention protocols
- Document incidents, maintain daily logs, and prepare detailed incident reports
- Screen visitors, mail, and packages to prevent contraband introduction
- Participate in inmate counts, searches, and transport operations
- Collaborate with healthcare, counseling, and rehabilitation staff
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and valid driver's license
- Minimum 21 years of age with high school diploma or GED
- Successful completion of background investigation and polygraph examination
- Ability to obtain and maintain Correctional Officer Training (CO) certification
- Physical fitness to pass annual fitness assessment (push-ups, sit-ups, 300m sprint)
- Experience in security, law enforcement, or military preferred
- Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays
- Strong communication skills and conflict resolution abilities
