Responsibilities
- Design and implement network security systems to prevent cyber threats
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on federal systems
- Monitor security incidents using SIEM tools and develop mitigation strategies
- Ensure compliance with NIST, FISMA, and other federal security standards
- Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security into system architectures
- Prepare incident response reports and security documentation
- Maintain current knowledge of emerging cybersecurity threats and countermeasures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 3 years of cybersecurity experience in federal or regulated environments
- Security+ CE or CISSP certification required
- Proficiency with security tools (Splunk, Wireshark, Metasploit)
- Familiarity with risk assessment frameworks (OCTAVE, FAIR)
- Active Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain)
- Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure) and ICS/SCADA systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
