Responsibilities
- Maintain and secure electronic health records in compliance with HIPAA and federal regulations
- Implement health information management systems and data quality standards
- Train staff on health information policies and procedures
- Conduct audits to ensure regulatory compliance and data integrity
- Collaborate with IT departments on system upgrades and security protocols
- Manage health information retention and destruction schedules
- Prepare compliance reports for federal oversight agencies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- 3+ years experience with EHR systems (e.g., VistA, Epic)
- Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and federal health record regulations
- Experience with data analysis and quality improvement initiatives
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain federal security clearance
