Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records in compliance with HIPAA and VA regulations
- Implement health information systems and optimize data workflows
- Conduct quality audits and ensure documentation accuracy
- Train staff on health information management protocols
- Coordinate with clinical teams to resolve documentation discrepancies
- Develop policies for health information security and accessibility
- Prepare regulatory compliance reports for federal audits
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification through AHIMA
- Minimum 3 years' experience in health information systems
- Proficiency in VA-specific health IT platforms
- Knowledge of HIPAA, 21st Century Cures Act, and federal recordkeeping laws
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to obtain and maintain a federal background clearance
