Responsibilities
- Maintain and secure electronic health records in compliance with HIPAA and federal guidelines
- Coordinate health information systems implementation and troubleshooting
- Conduct data audits and ensure regulatory compliance across VA facilities
- Train staff on health information management protocols and best practices
- Collaborate with IT and clinical teams on data integrity initiatives
- Manage release of information requests with strict confidentiality protocols
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required (CCA acceptable)
- Minimum 3 years' experience with EHR systems (Epic preferred)
- Deep knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and federal health IT regulations
- Proficiency in data analytics and quality improvement methodologies
- Ability to obtain and maintain federal security clearance
