Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain veteran health information systems in compliance with HIPAA and federal regulations
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of electronic health records (EHR) documentation
- Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure accurate data capture and coding
- Implement privacy and security protocols for protected health information (PHI)
- Train healthcare staff on proper documentation procedures and system usage
- Generate reports for compliance audits and performance improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in healthcare data management or HIM
- Proficiency with EHR systems (experience with VA VistA preferred)
- Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and federal healthcare regulations
- Ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
