Responsibilities
- Manage Federal IT Infrastructure: Monitor and maintain local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs), including hardware, software, and related peripheral equipment.
- Ensure Cybersecurity Compliance: Implement and enforce security protocols to protect sensitive federal data in accordance with FISMA and NIST standards.
- Provide Technical Support: Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues for staff, providing timely resolutions to minimize downtime.
- System Administration: Perform regular system updates, patch management, and backups to ensure system integrity and reliability.
- Document Processes: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and user manuals.
- Staff Training: Conduct training sessions for VA employees on new software applications and security best practices.
Qualifications
- Citizenship Requirement: Must be a U.S. citizen to hold a federal position.
- Education: Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; OR 4 years of specialized IT experience.
- Clearance: Must be eligible for a Public Trust Security Clearance.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Active Directory, and standard networking protocols.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
- Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work occasional off-hours for system maintenance.
