Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain federal cybersecurity frameworks including NIST 800-53 and FISMA compliance
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on VA infrastructure
- Manage security information and event management (SIEM) systems
- Develop incident response plans and lead breach mitigation efforts
- Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security into system development lifecycles
- Provide technical guidance on security best practices to department staff
- Monitor and report on security posture to senior leadership
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required
- Security clearance eligibility (ability to obtain Secret clearance)
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field
- Minimum 3 years experience in federal IT security roles
- CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Azure cloud security tools
- Experience with HIPAA and VA-specific data protection protocols
