Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain NIST-compliant security controls across VA infrastructure
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing for federal systems
- Lead incident response protocols for cybersecurity threats
- Develop security awareness training for federal employees
- Collaborate with IT teams on secure system architecture design
- Ensure compliance with FISMA, HIPAA, and FedRAMP requirements
- Manage security monitoring tools and threat intelligence platforms
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of hands-on security operations experience
- Active Security+ CE or CISSP certification
- Familiarity with federal security frameworks (NIST, FISMA)
- Proficiency in SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with cloud security (AWS/Azure) preferred
