Responsibilities

  • Process and reconcile weekly and monthly federal payrolls with a high degree of accuracy, ensuring all timesheets, leave requests, and deductions are correctly applied.
  • Ensure strict compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), DOD FAR Supplement (DFARS), and agency-specific payroll policies.
  • Manage complex pay calculations, including locality pay adjustments, overtime, hazard pay, and special allowances for federal employees.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay stubs, tax documents (W-2s), and payroll discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll data to identify errors and prevent future discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with HR and Finance departments to update employee records and ensure data integrity within the HRIS system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources, or equivalent work experience in a federal environment.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably within the federal government or a government contracting firm.
  • Deep understanding of the General Schedule (GS) Pay Scale and federal labor laws.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, or Kronos) and Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
