Responsibilities
- Manage Pension Calculations: Accurately process and verify pension benefit calculations for active members and retirees.
- Member Support: Provide expert guidance and resolution for inquiries regarding eligibility, vesting, and benefit projections.
- Compliance Auditing: Conduct regular audits of pension records to ensure adherence to TSRS policies and state/federal laws (ERISA).
- Record Maintenance: Maintain up-to-date and confidential electronic and physical records for all assigned members.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline administrative processes and enhance member service delivery.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the HR and Finance departments to address complex payroll and benefit discrepancies.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field required.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in pension administration, benefits management, or public sector accounting.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of Texas Government Code and ERISA regulations regarding retirement plans.
- Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and experience with HRIS or pension administration software.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
- Integrity: High level of discretion and commitment to data privacy and security.
