Responsibilities
- Review and process pension eligibility applications and retirement calculations for federal employees under FERS and CSRS plans.
- Analyze complex pension data to ensure accuracy in contributions, interest crediting, and benefit disbursements.
- Provide expert guidance and counseling to staff and retirees regarding retirement benefits, survivor annuities, and medical insurance.
- Ensure strict adherence to Federal Retirement regulations (ERISA, OPM guidelines) and internal audit requirements.
- Collaborate with the Payroll and Human Resources departments to resolve discrepancies and improve workflow efficiency.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior leadership regarding the financial health of pension plans.
- Conduct training sessions for new hires on federal benefits policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pension administration, benefits management, or federal government service.
- Deep knowledge of the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS), Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS), and Social Security.
- Proficiency in HRIS software, specifically SAP, Workday, or Oracle HCM.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and regulatory codes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with integrity.
