Join the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) as a Federal Pension Plan Specialist and play a pivotal role in the financial security of millions of American workers. We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to manage the administration of Federal Employee Retirement System (FERS) and Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) benefits. You will provide expert guidance on pension calculations, eligibility, and retirement planning to federal employees, ensuring compliance with federal regulations while delivering exceptional service.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the accurate calculation and processing of federal pension benefits for retiring employees.
- Provide comprehensive retirement counseling and guidance on FERS, CSRS, and Thrift Savings Plans (TSP).
- Analyze complex personnel and financial data to determine eligibility for survivor benefits and deferred annuities.
- Review and approve retirement applications, ensuring all required documentation and legal compliance are met.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies in payroll and service credit records.
- Develop and deliver training materials on retirement benefits for agency HR personnel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in federal benefits administration, pension management, or actuarial science.
- Deep knowledge of FERS, CSRS, and the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to specific cases.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client-facing interactions.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to federal privacy standards.
