Responsibilities
- Analyze complex federal pension eligibility requirements and calculate retirement benefits accurately.
- Provide comprehensive counseling to federal employees and retirees regarding their pension plans and options.
- Review and process pension claim applications with a high degree of precision and adherence to compliance standards.
- Collaborate with internal legal and finance teams to resolve complex pension discrepancies and appeals.
- Document all client interactions and maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive financial and personal data.
- Stay updated on changes to federal retirement laws (FERS, CSRS) to ensure accurate advice is provided.
- Train junior staff on pension calculation methodologies and customer service protocols.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in pension administration, financial planning, or human resources.
- Deep understanding of the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) and Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to individual cases.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical pension details to non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and government case management software (e.g., AMS).
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
