Responsibilities
- Pension Administration: Review, analyze, and process complex pension claims, ensuring compliance with the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) and Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) regulations.
- Analytical Accuracy: Perform detailed calculations of annuities, service credits, and retirement eligibility to minimize errors and ensure equitable outcomes for beneficiaries.
- Customer Service: Serve as the primary point of contact for retirees and agency employees, answering complex inquiries regarding retirement dates, survivor benefits, and Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) distributions via phone, email, and secure portals.
- Policy Compliance: Stay current on federal retirement laws and internal policies, updating documentation and procedures as needed to reflect regulatory changes.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate and confidential records in our ERP systems, auditing data integrity to support financial reporting and audit readiness.
- Collaboration: Work closely with HR operations, Payroll, and Legal teams to resolve discrepancies and facilitate smooth retirement transitions.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, Accounting, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pension administration, benefits management, or federal human resources.
- Certifications: CFSP (Certified Federal Skills Professional) or PHR/SPHR certification is a significant plus.
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a favorable Secret Security Clearance.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel is critical) and experience with federal HRIS systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, SAP, or similar).
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-technical audiences.
