Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eligibility reviews of Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) applications and pension claims.
- Analyze complex employment histories, salary records, and military service data to determine accurate retirement annuity calculations.
- Provide expert guidance and written responses to federal employees and beneficiaries regarding pension plan inquiries, regulations, and benefit options.
- Ensure strict compliance with OPM regulations, internal policies, and federal government accounting standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex retirement discrepancies, appeals, and customer service issues efficiently.
- Prepare detailed reports and statistical summaries regarding pension processing trends and compliance metrics.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and data integrity for sensitive personnel and financial records.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for a Federal background investigation (Public Trust clearance).
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in pension administration, benefits administration, or federal payroll processing.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills for complex data modeling and spreadsheet management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory text and apply it to specific case scenarios.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client-facing interactions and formal documentation.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining high accuracy.
