Responsibilities
- Manage and process pension calculations for federal retirees and active employees utilizing the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS).
- Analyze Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) data and provide accurate projections for retirement readiness.
- Review and approve pension benefit requests, ensuring strict adherence to federal regulations and internal policies.
- Provide high-level customer service and consultation to federal employees regarding retirement eligibility, survivor benefits, and leave accruals.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of all pension transactions and employee inquiries.
- Collaborate with HR and legal departments to interpret and apply new federal retirement legislation.
- Assist in the development of training materials for staff regarding pension changes and updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in federal benefits administration, pension management, or a similar role.
- Deep understanding of the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS), Social Security, and Thrift Savings Plan (TSP).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on clarity and empathy.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and federal HRIS systems (e.g., iPERMS, eOPF).
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and integrity.
