Responsibilities
- Administer and process federal pension claims and benefit requests in strict compliance with established federal regulations and agency guidelines.
- Conduct thorough and accurate reviews of employee employment records to verify eligibility for pension plans and retirement benefits.
- Provide exceptional customer service to retirees and federal employees, addressing complex inquiries regarding pension calculations and disbursements.
- Collaborate closely with the Payroll and HR departments to ensure seamless data integration and record maintenance.
- Prepare and maintain detailed, organized documentation for all pension-related transactions, audits, and regulatory filings.
- Stay current on changes in federal pension laws, OPM regulations, and legislative updates to ensure ongoing organizational compliance.
- Assist in the development and delivery of training materials regarding pension plan options for new hires.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience in benefits administration, payroll processing, or government services is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of federal pension systems, Thrift Savings Plans (TSP), and retirement benefits is a significant plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with pension administration software (e.g., SAP, ADP Workforce Now) is required.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with the highest level of discretion.
