The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is seeking motivated individuals to join our dynamic team as Entry-Level Pension Specialists. In this critical role, you will play a key part in securing the financial future of federal employees by managing and administering federal pension plans. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within the federal government, providing essential services to the Jacksonville, FL and Virginia regions.
We are looking for candidates with strong analytical skills and a passion for public service. As a Pension Specialist, you will guide employees through the retirement process, ensuring they understand their benefits and are prepared for their transition.
Responsibilities
- Pension Administration: Assist federal employees with the calculation and processing of pension benefits, retirement estimates, and annuity payments.
- Client Support: Provide exceptional customer service to federal employees in the Jacksonville, FL area, addressing complex pension inquiries and resolving issues efficiently.
- Compliance & Accuracy: Ensure all pension calculations and documentation strictly adhere to OPM regulations and federal retirement laws.
- Outreach & Education: Conduct informational sessions and outreach programs to educate federal workers about pension plan options and eligibility requirements.
- Record Management: Maintain accurate, confidential electronic and physical records of all pension transactions and employee interactions.
- Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with HR offices and other federal agencies to streamline the pension application process.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred. (Equivalent experience may be considered).
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and precision when handling sensitive financial data and government records.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with government computer systems.
- Travel: Willingness to travel to client sites in Jacksonville, FL and the Virginia area as required.
- Integrity: Strong ethical standards and a commitment to the highest level of professional conduct.
