Responsibilities
- Pension Administration: Manage the daily operations of federal pension plans, including FERS and CSRS, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Compliance: Ensure all pension calculations and distributions adhere to strict federal laws, IRS guidelines, and OPM regulations.
- Claims Processing: Review and process retirement applications, benefit calculations, and survivorship claims efficiently.
- Client Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for federal employees and retirees regarding pension eligibility, vesting, and questions.
- Audits: Conduct regular internal audits of pension data to identify discrepancies and improve operational efficiency.
- Documentation: Maintain up-to-date plan documents and communicate changes in federal legislation to stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, or a related field is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in federal pension administration or benefits consulting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, SAP, Workday) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of FERS, CSRS, and Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) regulations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex pension concepts clearly.
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen eligible for government background checks.
