Are you an expert in federal retirement systems? We are seeking a dedicated Federal Pension Specialist to join our team in Sacramento, CA. In this pivotal role, you will ensure the accurate and timely processing of pension plans for federal employees, guiding them through complex regulations and maximizing their benefits.
As a key member of our Benefits Administration division, you will collaborate with HR teams and senior leadership to maintain compliance with OPM (Office of Personnel Management) guidelines. Responsibilities
- Analyze employee service records to determine eligibility for federal pension benefits and retirement options.
- Provide expert consultation to federal employees regarding Thrift Savings Plans (TSP), survivor benefits, and deferred retirement.
- Calculate and process pension estimates and annuity payments with high accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure strict adherence to federal regulations, privacy laws (FERPA), and agency policies.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate staff on upcoming changes in federal retirement legislation.
- Investigate and resolve complex discrepancies in pension records and claims.
- Collaborate with external actuaries and financial planners to optimize pension fund performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in federal benefits administration or pension plan management.
- Deep knowledge of FERS (Federal Employees Retirement System) and CSRS (Civil Service Retirement System) regulations.
- Strong proficiency in HRIS software (e.g., SAP, Workday) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and data integrity.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to a non-technical audience.
- Certification as a SHRM-CP or PHR is highly preferred.
