Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care including vital signs monitoring, specimen collection, and basic ECG procedures
- Administer medications and treatments under provider supervision with precise documentation
- Maintain sterile environments and assist during medical procedures using OSHA-compliant protocols
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for seamless weekend patient care continuity
- Utilize electronic health records (EHR) systems for accurate patient documentation
- Respond to emergency situations following established VA emergency protocols
- Support patient education initiatives for chronic disease management
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Medical Assisting or related health field (or equivalent military training)
- Current BLS/CPR certification and state health technician license
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience in hospital or outpatient setting
- Proficiency with EHR systems (VA Vistars experience preferred)
- Ability to work independently during weekend shifts with minimal supervision
- Valid Oregon driver's license and reliable transportation
- US Citizenship required for federal position
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
