Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including excavation, material handling, and debris removal
- Operate heavy machinery (backhoes, dump trucks) and power tools safely
- Install/maintain street signs, traffic signals, and public lighting systems
- Conduct routine inspections and repairs of sidewalks, curbs, and drainage systems
- Assist in emergency response during severe weather events
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and municipal maintenance standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Michigan driver's license with clean record
- Minimum 1 year construction/maintenance experience preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification a plus
- Basic mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment operation
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
