Responsibilities
- Manage Spatial Data: Oversee the maintenance, organization, and updating of GIS databases and spatial datasets used for environmental monitoring.
- Map Production: Design, create, and maintain high-quality static and interactive maps for internal reports and public distribution.
- Project Support: Assist project managers and field staff with spatial analysis, data collection, and site assessment tasks.
- System Integration: Collaborate with IT teams to integrate GIS platforms with other state agency software systems.
- Quality Assurance: Perform rigorous data validation and quality control checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with state standards.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geology, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in GIS applications and spatial analysis.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, and database management systems (e.g., SQL, PostgreSQL).
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data to non-technical audiences.
- Certifications: Certified GIS Professional (CGP) or Esri Technical Certification is a plus.
