We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Government IT Specialist to join the City of Indianapolis Department of Technology. Responsibilities
- Technical Support & Maintenance: Provide tier-2 technical support to city staff, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network connectivity issues efficiently.
- System Administration: Manage and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and server infrastructure to ensure 99.9% uptime.
- Cybersecurity Compliance: Assist in implementing and monitoring security protocols to protect sensitive government data and citizen information from cyber threats.
- Software Deployment: Deploy, configure, and update operating systems and applications across various city departments.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate technical documentation, including inventory logs and incident reports, to ensure knowledge transfer and operational continuity.
- Vendor Coordination: Liaise with third-party vendors and contractors regarding service agreements and technical requirements.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or a related technical role within a government or enterprise environment.
- Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or equivalent certifications are highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical staff.
- Background Check: Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security clearance as required for government employment.
