Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) to ensure optimal performance for government operations.
- Implement and monitor security measures to protect county data from cyber threats and unauthorized access.
- Provide Tier 2 technical support and troubleshooting for internal staff regarding hardware, software, and network connectivity issues.
- Collaborate with department heads to identify technology needs and recommend upgrades or solutions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, server statuses, and incident reports.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal government IT standards and accessibility regulations.
- Conduct regular system audits and perform routine maintenance tasks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT support, network administration, or systems engineering within a government or corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network protocols.
- Familiarity with government security standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA) is highly preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical staff.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required for on-site support.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, or A+ are a plus.
