Responsibilities
- Oversee the accurate calculation and disbursement of pension benefits and retirement allowances.
- Conduct thorough reviews of retirement applications to ensure compliance with Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) guidelines.
- Provide exceptional customer service and support to current and prospective retirees via phone, email, and in-person inquiries.
- Analyze pension data and prepare complex reports for management and legislative oversight.
- Collaborate with IT and legal teams to update systems and policies in response to regulatory changes.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and data security standards for sensitive employee records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pension administration, government benefits management, or actuarial science.
- Deep understanding of retirement plans, ERISA regulations, and state-specific public pension laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with database management systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make sound recommendations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on clarity and empathy in member interactions.
